Jon Bogdanove is an American comics artist and writer, born in 1958, perhaps best recognized for his long run on *Superman: The Man of Steel* and his earlier work on *Power Pack*. His career in comics stretches from 1986 through at least 2023, encompassing more than 200 credited issues across roles as penciler, inker, and writer.
Solomon Kane #5 (1986)
Bogdanove's work tends toward expressive, kinetic figure work that suits ensemble casts and high-stakes action — qualities that served him well on *Power Pack*, Marvel's series about a team of young siblings with superhero abilities, and later on the Superman titles at DC. His collaborations with writer Louise Simonson proved especially fruitful; the two worked together on *Superman: The Man of Steel* and, in 1993, co-created Steel, John Henry Irons, one of the characters who emerged in the aftermath of the "Death of Superman" storyline. Steel went on to anchor his own series and remains a significant figure in the DC universe.
Power Pack #22 (1986)
Beyond his Superman work, Bogdanove contributed to notable crossover projects including *Fantastic Four vs. X-Men* and *Superman / Aliens 2: God War*, demonstrating a comfortable range across publishers and genres. His co-creation of Steel stands as a lasting contribution to superhero comics, bringing a grounded, working-class hero into DC's roster at a moment of considerable readership attention.
