Superman: The Man of Steel #40

Superman is in serious trouble on Jon Bogdanove and Dennis Janke's cover, showing the Man of Steel grimacing and straining as a grotesque, many-tentacled alien creature clamps itself around his head while shadowy monstrous figures loom on all sides. The banner "Dead Again!" and tagline "Mind Boggling!" frame the scene perfectly, teasing Part 9 of the 11-part crossover event with real urgency. Louise Simonson and Bogdanove were clearly having fun putting the Last Son of Krypton through the wringer in this 1995 DC series.
