X-Factor #58
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeX-Factor #58 closes the three-part Ravens story arc ('Nevermore'), which served as Louise Simonson's penultimate character showcase for Archangel in the months before the title was swept into the X-Tinction Agenda crossover. The issue deepens Warren Worthington's ongoing psychological struggle with his Apocalypse-forged identity: transformed into a psychic vampire by the Ravens, he is pulled back from the edge not by raw power but by an emotional bond with supporting character Charlotte Jones, reinforcing Simonson's soap-operatic approach to the original X-Men's ongoing traumas. It also marks the first appearance of Timmy Jones, Charlotte's young son, a supporting figure Simonson herself later cited as central to Archangel's emotional arc when she revisited the run in X-Factor Forever (2010).

The issue was written by Louise Simonson, who had stewarded X-Factor since issue #6 and was in the final stretch of a five-year run that would conclude at #64. Pencils were provided by Jon Bogdanove — a frequent collaborator with Simonson who would later join her on Superman: The Man of Steel at DC — with inks by Al Milgrom and editing by Bob Harras under editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco. The Ravens arc (#56–58) functioned editorially as a self-contained Archangel story bridging the team's return to Earth and the imminent X-Tinction Agenda crossover beginning at issue #60; the relatively contained nature of the arc allowed Simonson to develop civilian relationships (Charlotte and Timmy Jones, guest appearances by Banshee and Forge) that would otherwise be eclipsed by the larger crossover machine bearing down on the title.
