Adventures of Superman #480

Two figures in red — tumbling dramatically against the blazing disc of what the title declares is Krypton's sun — make for a striking, almost balletic cover image on this 48-page 1991 issue of The Adventures of Superman. Jerry Ordway both wrote and handled the cover pencils and inks, lending "Last Sun of Krypton" a cohesive, visceral energy that pulls the eye straight to those two intertwined, free-falling forms set against a fiery red sky. With a creative roster that also includes Tom Grummett, Dan Jurgens, Curt Swan, and Jon Bogdanove among others, issue #480 is a genuine collaboration of some of the era's most accomplished Superman talents.
