Brett Breeding

Brett Breeding, born June 13, 1961, is an American comic book artist whose career flourished primarily through the 1980s and 1990s, with the bulk of his work appearing under the DC and Marvel banners. Though he occasionally contributed pencils and cover art, Breeding built his reputation chiefly as a finish inker — someone who takes breakdown layouts and brings them to polished completion. That specialization led to sustained creative partnerships with pencilers Ron Frenz and Dan Jurgens, collaborations that would define much of his output.

His most celebrated association is with DC's Superman line, where his inking helped shape the visual identity of titles including *Superman*, *Action Comics*, and *Superman: The Man of Tomorrow*. Over at Marvel, his credits include a substantial run on *Thor*. Across both publishers he amassed credits on nearly 400 issues throughout his active years.

Breeding's most enduring contribution to comics history is his co-creation of Doomsday, the villain whose battle with Superman became one of the medium's landmark story events of the 1990s. He also shares credit for the characters Shadowdragon, Saviour, and the siblings Blaze and Satanus.
