The issue was written by Chris Claremont and penciled by John Romita Jr., with inks split between Bob Wiacek and Brett Breeding, coloring by Glynis Wein (Oliver), and lettering by Tom Orzechowski; Louise Jones (later Simonson) edited, with Jim Shooter as Editor-in-Chief. It was released on newsstands November 8, 1983, carrying a February 1984 cover date — placing it squarely in Romita Jr.'s early tenure on the book, a run critics and readers later recognized as the period in which the artist fully developed his distinctive, geometry-driven figure work. The cover was penciled by Romita Jr. and inked by Dan Green, a collaboration the GCD notes was one of the pair's first on the X-Men, though they had worked together previously on Iron Man in 1978.
