Action Comics #657
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis September 1990 issue presents one of Superman's more delightfully offbeat cover scenarios, with the Man of Steel swooping in urgently — cape billowing — as a group of cheerful children and their animated toys run wild through a woodland setting. A grinning teddy bear, a roaring toy tiger, a miniature flying saucer piloted by a boy in a space suit, a toy horse ridden by a girl in a cowboy hat, and a crawling green dinosaur-like creature all crowd the scene, while Superman pleads "Kids... stop those toys... they're nothing but trouble!" The creative team of Roger Stern, Kerry Gammill, and Brett Breeding brings a wonderfully playful energy to this issue, whose story title — "There Is a Happy Land... Far, Far Away" — hints at a whimsical adventure that matches every bit of the cover's charm.
