“All in the Mind”

Issue #15 of Power of the Atom presents one of the more visually striking covers of 1989: the Atom, rendered in his blue-and-pink costume, fights his way through a chaotic tangle of multicolored wires and cables that fill the entire image, with a computer terminal visible at the upper right and a tiny figure of the hero soaring free near the title logo. The teaser copy — "What puts the HUMMMM in Humbug?" — hints at the story within, titled "All in the Mind," and gives the whole package a playful, puzzle-box energy. Cover art by Graham Nolan and Brett Breeding, with the full creative team of Stern, Peyer, and Nolan delivering what looks like a wonderfully offbeat chapter in Ray Palmer's adventures.
