“Skin Game”

Power of the Atom #14 (July 1989) promises an unsettling showdown as a hulking, pale-skinned villain calling himself Humbug has a masked woman in his crushing grip — his gleeful sneer and the speech bubble's taunt ("Humbug's back and you're gonna be in trouble…") making his menace hard to miss. A tiny Atom streaks in the upper corner, a reminder that DC's size-changing hero is never far from the action. Cover art by Graham Nolan and Brett Breeding frames the confrontation against a stark yellow spotlight, and the starburst blurb — "The Traumatic Return of the Reusable Man!" — sets the stage for Roger Stern and Tom Peyer's "Skin Game" with plenty of dramatic flair.
