Bret Blevins

Bret Blevins (born August 13, 1960) is an American comics artist, animation storyboard artist, and painter whose career has spanned more than four decades across both the comics and animation industries. He is perhaps best recognized for his run as regular penciler on Marvel's *New Mutants*, a role that defined much of his early reputation in the field.

Blevins entered the comics world in the early 1980s, with credits appearing from 1983 onward. Over the following years he demonstrated considerable range, contributing to titles as varied as *Strange Tales* and *Sleepwalker* at Marvel, and later *Batman: Shadow of the Bat* and *Harley Quinn* at DC — a cross-publisher body of work that speaks to his adaptability. His style, rooted in expressive figure work and dynamic page composition, made him a natural fit for superhero material while remaining flexible enough for different tonal registers.

In addition to his comics output, Blevins built a parallel career as an animation storyboard artist, broadening his professional footprint well beyond the printed page. He also contributed to the independent title *Stellar*, reflecting a continued openness to new projects. Across more than 230 credited issues as artist, colorist, inker, and writer, his presence in the medium has remained active into the mid-2020s — a testament to both his craft and his durability in a competitive industry.
