Star Brand #10
In "Enemies," Star Brand #10 (1987), the relentless Randy Kellog, known as the Gladiator, pushes his super-dense, invulnerable form to the brink in a one-man war against the USSR, surviving every conventional and nuclear assault. When Ken Connell, another paranormal, tries to stop him to prevent global catastrophe, their clash forces a desperate choice—one that ends not in death, but in exile, as Connell sends Kellog drifting into the endless void of space. Written by George Caragonne and illustrated by Mark Bagley with inks by Pablo Marcos, colors by Andy Yanchus, and letters by Jack Morelli and Rick Parker, the issue’s cover by Bret Blevins and Al Williamson captures the weight of that final, irreversible moment.

Randy Kellog, aka the Gladiator, a super-dense, super-strong and invulnerable paranormal, is waging a one-man war against the USSR. The Soviets attack him with conventional and nuclear weapons, but to no avail. Ken Connell tries to reason with Kellog, asking him to stop his rampage for fear that it will bring about World War III. The ex-soldier is undeterred and the pair of paranormals battle. Unwilling to kill Kellog, Connell flies him out of the atmosphere and throws the paranormal into deep space, never to die, but to drift in space forever.
