The Bozz Chronicles #1

Marvel's Epic Comics imprint launched this Victorian fantasy series in December 1985, and Bret Blevins's cover immediately signals something wonderfully strange: a top-hatted figure in a dark coat clutches a red-haired woman in a blue dress while a wild-eyed man tumbles beneath them, all three caught in a fiery, chaotic sky above what appears to be a fog-shrouded London skyline. The swirling colors and breathless energy of that image, paired with David Michelinie's scripting and Steve Oliff's rich coloring inside, promise a series with both atmosphere and imagination to spare.
