Mirka Andolfo

Born in Naples on 17 June 1989, Mirka Andolfo is an Italian comics creator whose work spans illustration, coloring, inking, and writing across more than 165 issues dating back to 2011. She first gained broader visibility through contributions to major publishers, working on titles such as Wonder Woman, Ms. Marvel, and The Amazing World of Gumball for DC Comics and BOOM! Studios, and built a strong ongoing presence through her extensive run on DC Comics: Bombshells and issues of Harley Quinn.

Andolfo's art is characterized by vivid, expressive character design with a distinctly European sensibility — lush color work and emotionally charged linework that feel equally at home in superhero titles and creator-owned projects. Her most celebrated original work is Sweet Paprika, a romantic-comedy series she both wrote and illustrated, which earned the Harvey Award for Best International Book in 2021. Other notable creator-owned projects include Unnatural and Hex Wives, each showcasing her range across genre and tone.

Beyond superheroes, she has brought her skills to sword-and-sorcery with Red Sonja, further demonstrating her versatility. Andolfo occupies a prominent place among contemporary European cartoonists who have made a sustained mark on the American comics industry, earning critical recognition without sacrificing the personal voice that distinguishes her original work.
