DC Comics: Bombshells #1
This volume collects the first six issues of the DC Comics: Bombshells series, set in an alternate World War II era where iconic DC heroines take center stage. Princess Diana, as Wonder Woman, leads a diverse cast of female heroes in a reimagined conflict against Axis powers and supernatural threats. The story blends period action with the signature Bombshells pin-up aesthetic, offering a fresh take on these classic characters.
In "Enlisted Part 1 of 3," a world war reimagined sees Kara and Kortni caught in a dangerous deception as General Arkayn manipulates them into targeting a Soviet prison camp, falsely claiming it's a Nazi stronghold. Meanwhile, in London’s Arkham Ward, Dr. Quinzel reinvents herself, and Wonder Woman faces a chilling betrayal when her attempt to stop the execution of Nazi prisoners is met with accusations of treason from the very allies she’s fighting alongside. Written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Bilquis Evely, Mirka Andolfo, and Laura Braga, with colors by Wendy Broome and letters by Wes Abbott, the cover by Ant Lucia captures the tension of a war where loyalty is the first casualty.
In "Enlisted Part 2 of 3," Diana defies the Queen to rescue Steve Trevor with Mera’s aid, launching a desperate mission against the Nazis. Meanwhile, Kara and Kortni are taken to Moscow, where their powers draw the attention of enemy leaders, while in a shadowy Berlin nightclub, Zatanna and Constantine confront the Joker’s Daughter in a high-stakes battle of wits and magic.
In "Enlisted Part 3 of 3," Kate reports to Commander Waller, who introduces her to two new teammates and begins briefing her on her first mission. Meanwhile, in Berlin, the Joker's Daughter compels Zatanna to summon a demon to aid Hitler’s war effort, while Wonder Woman and Mera return Steve Trevor to the Greek mainland, where they reunite with General Lane’s forces.
In "Combat Part 1 of 3," Kara and Kortni uncover a dangerous deception as General Arkayn manipulates them into targeting a Soviet prison camp, falsely claiming it’s a Nazi facility. Meanwhile, in London’s Arkham Ward, Dr. Quinzel begins a new life under a different name, and Wonder Woman finds herself at odds with the Allied forces when she intervenes to stop a mass execution—only to be branded a traitor.
In "Combat Part 2 of 3," Kate Kane infiltrates the Contessa’s party under the guise of Alexander Luthor, witnessing a chilling occult ritual among the elite. Meanwhile, in France, Harley Quinn and Pamela Isley share a quiet moment, sketching out dreams for what’s to come. As Stargirl and Supergirl race to save their parents from Arkayn, their father is seized by the mysterious Night Witches, leaving their mission uncertain.
In "Combat Part 3 of 3" from DC Comics: Bombshells #1, Supergirl and Stargirl fight to survive as they flee Mera and her crew, seeking refuge in a war-torn world where alliances shift like shadows. Meanwhile, Batwoman crosses paths with Helena, the defiant leader of Berlin’s underground youth resistance, while Wonder Woman makes a desperate break from a Greek prison, each woman racing toward an uncertain future.
