Deep Beyond #6

The cover of this sixth issue sets an appropriately harrowing tone: a deep-sea diver's cracked helmet — visor shattered, the occupant's face barely visible inside — is seized by the segmented, fang-lined maw of a monstrous underwater creature, with a massive barnacled leviathan looming ominously in the murky background. Andrea Broccardo's cover linework and Barbara Nosenzo's teal-and-amber color palette give the scene a genuinely unsettling sense of pressure and dread, perfectly suited to Mirka Andolfo and David Goy's submerged sci-fi thriller. If the series has been building toward something terrible lurking in the deep, issue #6 makes clear that the characters may have finally come face-to-face with it.
