Mirka Andolfo's Unnatural continues with this 2018 Image Comics release, its cover offering a cozy yet quietly unsettling snapshot of three anthropomorphic friends — a horned figure, a blue-haired pig girl with chopsticks, and a mouse-eared companion holding takeout — sharing a sushi night in that's interrupted by something lurking just out of frame. The warm, intimate scene is undercut by a shadowy presence visible through the window behind them and a mysterious green claw creeping in at the bottom corner, hinting that this world's dangers don't politely wait outside. Andolfo's expressive, stylish linework and rich coloring make this one of the more visually distinctive series Image was publishing that year.
