Fanboys vs. Zombies #15

The cover of this BOOM! Studios issue says it all — a pink-mohawked survivor coolly sprays something from a canister directly into the rotting, drooling face of a grotesque zombie looming close behind, her expression more annoyed than afraid. It's a wonderfully grounded snapshot of the series' signature blend of horror and attitude, with Houghton and Gaylord delivering a composition that feels both intimate and tense. If this is the kind of deadpan confidence issue #15 puts on its cover, the fanboys — and fangirls — are clearly holding their own in 2013.
