Fanboys vs. Zombies #9

Five pop-culture-savvy survivors press together against what appears to be a blood-splattered car — a sword-carrying guy in glasses, a cowboy-hatted hero clutching something tightly, a woman in a flowing pink dress, a girl in a vest with bunny ears, and another in casual torn jeans — while a horde of the undead closes in around them against a fiery orange horizon. The cover's playful nod to a certain time-traveling film logo sets a gleefully self-aware tone that's very much in Boom! Studios' wheelhouse. With Humphries, Houghton, and Gaylord at the helm, issue #9 keeps the series' blend of geek-culture humor and zombie mayhem firing on all cylinders.
