The Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle #[nn] (2008)
Ardian Syaf is an Indonesian comic book artist known for his work with DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and Dynamite Entertainment. Born in 1980, he entered the industry in the late 2000s, quickly establishing himself as a reliable penciller and inker. Over a career spanning from 2008 to 2020, he contributed to over 118 issues, with his most credited titles including *Brightest Day*, *Batgirl*, *Batman/Superman*, *Green Lantern Corps*, and the *Dresden Files* adaptations *Storm Front* and *Welcome to the Jungle*. His style, characterized by clean lines and dynamic layouts, made him a frequent collaborator on high-profile superhero series. However, Syaf’s legacy is overshadowed by a major controversy in April 2017, when he inserted hidden antisemitic and anti-Christian messages into *X-Men Gold* #1, leading to immediate termination of his contract with Marvel. This incident effectively ended his mainstream American comics career, and he has not worked on major titles since. Beyond this notoriety, Syaf’s early contributions to DC’s *Brightest Day* and *Green Lantern Corps* remain his most significant, though his name is now primarily discussed in the context of the ethical boundaries of creator expression.
