Earth 2 World's End #1
This volume collects the first half of the weekly series Earth 2: World's End, set in the New 52's alternate Earth-2. It follows the surviving Wonders—including Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman of that world—as they face the apocalyptic forces of Darkseid and his minions, leading to a desperate war for their planet's survival. Written by a rotating team including Tom Taylor and Marguerite Bennett, this collection covers issues #1–11 of the 26-issue weekly series.
"Apokolips Now" kicks off Earth 2: World's End #1 with a pulse-pounding convergence of heroes and horrors. On Apokolips, Mister Miracle, Barda, and Fury confront Paternus in a battle that reveals unsettling truths, while across the multiverse, Green Lantern, Grundy, and the Avatar of the White clash with the Fury of Death. Meanwhile, Red Tornado’s team holds onto fragile hope that the original Superman might still be alive, and in Chicago, Constantine’s team watches helplessly as the Graysons are attacked—Barbara’s fate hanging in the balance. With bold art by Scott McDaniel, Tyler Kirkham, Stephen Segovia, Robson Rocha, and Eduardo Pansica, and dynamic inks by John Livesay, Jason Paz, Guillermo Ortego, and Walden Wong, this issue delivers a gripping, high-stakes start to the series. The cover by Ardian Syaf and Jaime Mendoza captures the chaos in striking detail.
In "Apokolips Now," Green Lantern grapples with the lingering aftermath of Apokolips' brutal incursions, as Power Girl and Huntress face the unsettling truth behind the strangers now posing as Batman and Superman. With the latest threat from Apokolips looming, the heroes must confront a danger rooted in the very history they thought they understood.
In "Furies," Darkseid’s relentless enforcers descend upon Earth 2, leaving chaos in their wake. With the World Army base under siege on Amazonia, Barda, Fury, and Mister Miracle make a desperate break for freedom. As Batman’s team prepares to confront the threat head-on, they face a dangerous choice—entering one of the Apokoliptian firepits to stop the destruction before it spreads.
In "Gods & Monsters," Jimmy Olsen finds himself unexpectedly tied to a Mother Box after a tense standoff with Mister Miracle and the World Army, while Queen Marella prepares to unleash a devastating Atlantean weapon. As the threat of Apokolips looms, Grundy returns to challenge Green Lantern in a brutal clash that tests the limits of will and power.
In "Emerald Quest," the Green Lantern and Grundy are forced into an uneasy alliance when the Green intervenes, while Terry Sloan unveils a parallel Earth that could shift the tide in the war against Apokolips. As Batman's team tracks Desaad into a firepit, they make a shocking discovery—the corpse of the original Superman—adding a new layer of mystery to the crumbling world.
In "Returns," Flash, Hawkgirl, and Doctor Fate battle the Fury of Famine in London, but the threat spreads to Amazonia, where humanity falls. Lois grapples with the unsettling truth that Clark’s body hasn’t been found—only more clones. Meanwhile, Val and the team’s faith in Batman wavers due to his Miraclo dependency, and Green Lantern faces a haunting vision of his deceased lover, now the Avatar of the White.
In "Arrival," Jo finds herself caught between forces she doesn’t understand as Apokolips looms over Earth 2, its arrival signaled by a Boom Tube and a tide of twisted Superman clones. With the Helmet of Nabu and Mister Miracle’s Mother Box fused to Jimmy Olsen, and Constantine trapped in a World Army lab, the line between hero and weapon blurs—while Green Lantern grapples with a loss that still echoes.
In "The End Times," Commander Khan leads his team onto the war-torn surface of Apokolips, where Darkseid's Furies clash with the Avatar of the White and the relentless Grundy. With Batman convinced that Desaad has killed Huntress and Constantine awakening metahumans from suspended animation, the fate of Earth 2 hangs in the balance as ancient forces converge.
In "All Good Deeds...", Green Lantern fights alongside Grundy and the Avatar of the White in a desperate stand against the Fury of Death, while Red Tornado and her team cling to hope that the man they believe to be the original Superman might still be alive—though past illusions haunt them. Meanwhile, Constantine and his team arrive too late in Chicago to stop the Graysons from being attacked, and on Apokolips, Mister Miracle, Barda, and Fury confront Paternus, who delivers a revelation that leaves them stunned.
In "Release," Huntress grapples with her new existence as one of Darkseid's Furies, while Constantine's team races to protect Dick Grayson and his son from the encroaching threat of Apokolips. On the war-torn planet, Mister Miracle confronts fragmented memories of his past, as Darkseid's return looms ever closer.
