Superman: Reign of Doomsday #[nn]

May 2012 · DC · 16.99 USD; 19.99 CAD
“Reign of Doomsday”

In "Reign of Doomsday," Superman faces a twisted alliance of enemies as Lex Luthor, fused with a Phantom Zone entity, unleashes a wave of forced happiness before turning his full rage toward the Man of Steel. Meanwhile, Doomsday has captured several heroes, only for Superman and his allies to discover the shocking truth: they’ve been battling not one, but three distinct Doomsday clones—each wielding unique abilities—while the real Doomsday remains imprisoned. Written by Paul Cornell and illustrated by a rotating team of artists including Pete Woods, Jesús Merino, and Dan Jurgens, with bold colors by Blond and Brad Anderson and sharp lettering by Rob Leigh, this 2012 issue features a striking cover by Kenneth Rocafort.

Having combined with the Phantom Zone creature, Luthor has achieved enormous power, and draws Superman to him to break him, but can't. The creature reasserts itself, causing Luthor to grant absolute happiness to all, but he gives that up by continuing to try to destroy Superman. Meantime Doomsday has kidnapped several heroes. Superman joins them, but together they find that Doomsday himself is held captive and they've been fighting three Doomsday clones, each with different powers.
