Peter Snejbjerg
1963–
Peter Snejbjerg is a Danish comic book artist best known for his moody, expressive work on DC’s *Starman* and a range of Vertigo titles. Born in 1963, he studied at the Kolding Kunsthåndværkerskole from 1983 to 1987. His path into comics began early—he was drawing before he could read or write, citing Hergé’s *Tintin*, Carl Barks’ *Donald Duck*, and Will Eisner’s *The Spirit* as formative influences. Over a career spanning from 1991 to 2025, he has been credited as artist, colorist, inker, and writer on 142 issues, with his most frequent credits on *Starman*, *Andrés Önd*, *The Books of Magic*, *Hornsby & Halo*, *The Light Brigade*, and *The Dreaming*. Snejbjerg’s signature style blends clean, European ligne claire roots with a shadowy, textured approach suited to supernatural and horror stories, making him a natural fit for Vertigo’s darker fare. He also contributed to Dark Horse’s *BPRD* series. His collaborators include writers James Robinson and Peter Gross. Snejbjerg’s legacy is that of a versatile craftsman who brought a distinct, understated elegance to American comics, though major awards have not been widely noted. He remains active in the industry.
