Dennis Hopeless, born Dennis Hallum in Kansas City, Missouri, is an American comic book writer best known for his work with Marvel, Image, and DC, particularly his acclaimed run on *Spider-Woman* and his many series featuring teenage superheroes. He broke into the industry with creator-owned projects before landing at Marvel in 2011, where he quickly became a go-to writer for character-driven stories. His signature style blends humor and heart, often exploring the challenges of growing up and earning praise for his authentic female perspectives. Key collaborators include artist Victor Ibanez on the first-ever *Jean Grey* ongoing series, and he wrote two limited series for Marvel's 2015 *Secret Wars* event. In 2016, he relaunched *All-New X-Men* and returned to *Spider-Woman*, where his portrayal of motherhood won over feminist critics. Later work includes *Suicide Squad* for DC and a long run on *WWE* comics. Active from 2007 onward, Hopeless has written over 125 issues across Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Boom! Studios, Arcana Studio, and Oni Press, cementing his reputation for relatable, emotionally grounded superhero storytelling.
