Spider-Woman #3
This Spider-Verse tie-in pulls double duty as both a tension-filled confrontation and a striking visual showcase — Greg Land's cover splits the image diagonally to put two spider-powered women face to face: a black-and-white-costumed figure leaping aggressively from a smoke-filled, rubble-strewn background above, and the red-and-black-suited Jessica Drew bracing herself against an ornate architectural ledge below. The dynamic composition — smoke and destruction on one side, elegant stonework on the other — gives the whole thing a charged, almost cinematic energy. Dennis Hopeless and the Land/Leisten/D'Armata art team were clearly swinging for something bold with this 2015 series, and this issue looks every bit the part.
