Tom Root

Tom Root was born on September 20, 1973, in the United States. He is best recognized as a writer, producer, director, and voice actor on the stop-motion sketch show *Robot Chicken*. Before his television career, Root spent over a decade in comics, working between 1998 and 2011 as a writer, artist, colorist, inker, and letterer across 91 issues. His most frequent credits appear in *Toyfare: The Toy Magazine* and its spin-off *Twisted Toyfare Theatre*, where he helped turn action-figure photography into satirical comic strips. He also contributed to Ben Dunn’s *Ninja High School* and its associated specials and yearbooks. Root’s comic work often blended pop-culture parody with a sharp, playful tone, collaborating with writers and artists from the independent and humor-comics scenes. He later transitioned into animation, becoming a key creative force on *Robot Chicken*, where his writing and voice work earned him multiple Emmy Awards.
