Twisted Toyfare Theatre #1
In this delightfully absurd twist on superhero lore, Dr. Doom and the Hulk take a bizarre ride through the "Secrets of the Fantastic Four" at Universal Studios, narrated by H.E.R.B.I.E. and shadowed by a robotic Invisible Woman in a troubling encounter with Iron Man. As the ride hurtles toward the year 2000—just four months away—Doom’s device unexpectedly harnesses power, leading to chaos, a rogue pee break, and an electrically charged encounter with the robot himself. Elsewhere, Hulk and Spider-Man celebrate New Year’s Eve in a completely different kind of madness. Written by Pat McCallum, Tom Root, and Douglas Goldstein, and illustrated, inked, and colored by Paul Schiraldi, this 2001 issue is a surreal, tongue-in-cheek romp that blends classic characters with the absurdity of theme park logic.
