Twisted Toyfare Theatre #3

Jan 2003 · Wizard Entertainment · 9.99 USD; 14.99 CAD

In this delightfully absurd twist on superhero lore, Spider-Man and Xavier find themselves at a ski resort when Captain America delivers the shocking news: Bucky is dead. As Iron Man and Hulk recount wildly different versions of the tragedy—ranging from a zebra-riding ambush to a mistaken identity—Dr. Strange attempts a séance that accidentally summons Cyclops. The issue unfolds in a surreal, metafictional frame, with the past and present colliding in unexpected ways, all while a hunting accident and a shocking death from the recent past ripple through the narrative. Cover by Pat McCallum.

Spider-Man and Xavier are watching TV at a ski resort when Captain America informs them Bucky is dead. Captain America, Iron Man, and Hulk tell differing stories about how he was killed. Captain America says he failed to save him from a death trap as he was beating up Red Skull. Iron Man says they were riding an invisible zebra when they were attacked by Pez and the Sweathogs. Hulk mistakes Bucky for Cyclops in his story. Dr. Strange holds a séance where they accidentally talk to Cyclops. Thirty minutes ago, we see Bucky killed in a hunting accident, and Cyclops is killed by Hulk.
