David Samuel Goyer was born on December 22, 1965, in the United States. He is best known as a prolific screenwriter for superhero films, including the *Blade* trilogy, Christopher Nolan's *Dark Knight* trilogy, *Man of Steel*, and *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*. He also directed four films and created the television series *Foundation*, based on Isaac Asimov's novels.

Goyer entered the comic book industry in 1996, writing for DC Comics. His most-credited titles include *JSA*, *Starman*, and *Wizmania*. He often collaborated with writer Geoff Johns on *JSA* and *JSA: All Stars*. While his co-creations in comics are less defined than his screen work, his runs on *JSA* and *Starman* are signature contributions.

He won a Saturn Award for Best Writing for *Batman Begins* (2005) and was nominated for the same award for *Dark City*. He also received four Hugo Award nominations. Later in his career, he co-wrote the video games *Call of Duty: Black Ops*, *Black Ops II*, and *Black Ops Cold War*. Goyer's legacy is as a bridge between blockbuster cinema and comic book storytelling, though his comic work remains a smaller part of his film-driven reputation.
