JSA by Geoff Johns #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis second volume of Geoff Johns' celebrated JSA run collects issues #26-45 and JSA Secret Files #2, chronicling the team's battles against the villainous Injustice Society and the return of the original Hawkman. The collection deepens the legacy-hero concept as the Justice Society faces threats from both classic foes like Black Adam and new dangers like the extradimensional Johnny Sorrow, while exploring character arcs for members like Atom Smasher, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Hawkgirl. Johns weaves together DC's Golden Age history with modern storytelling, cementing the JSA as a cornerstone of the DC Universe.
In "Sorrow Ever More!", the Justice Society of America faces their darkest hour as Hawkman and Hawkgirl narrowly escape execution—only to rally the team in a desperate bid to stop Onimar Synn, who’s absorbed all the Nth metal on Thanagar, including the Claw of Horus. With their usual tactics failing, the JSA must find a new way to fight back, leading to a powerful moment of unity between Hawkman and Hawkgirl that could change everything. Written by Geoff Johns and David Goyer, with dynamic art by Steve Sadowski and inks by Michael Bair, David Meikis, Paul Neary, and Rob Leigh, and colors by John Kalisz and Heroic Age, this issue features a striking cover by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer.

Hawkman saves himself and Hawkgirl from their execution and then helps the rest of the members of the JSA escape their own fates and regroup as a team to take on Onimar Synn. But the villain absorbs all the Nth metal on Thanagar, including the Claw of Horus, and the JSA's direct attacks prove useless. It is only when Hawkman and Hawkgirl unite their spirits to take back control of the Claw of Horus and tear Onimar Synn apart from the inside that the villain is defeated.
