“Time's Keeper”

The Justice Society is back, and this 1999 relaunch makes a striking first impression with a cover by Dave Johnson that assembles a lineup of JSA stalwarts — the winged Hawkman soaring aloft, the enigmatic Sandman, a red-suited Flash, the goggled Atom, Doctor Fate in his golden helm, and what appears to be Hourman among the gathered heroes. The bold retro trade dress of the All Star Comics title feels perfectly chosen for a team whose golden-age roots run deep, signaling that Robinson, Goyer, Lark, Grawbadger, and Hazlewood are treating this legacy with real affection. A great jumping-on point for anyone who's wanted to spend time with DC's original super-team.
