Who is Hawkman?

Katar Hol is a police officer from the planet Thanagar who travels to Earth alongside his wife Shayera to apprehend a criminal, ultimately choosing to remain and study human law enforcement methods. Equipped with Nth metal wings that grant flight and a mastery of ancient weapons, he adopts the identity of Hawkman and joins Earth's heroes as a member of the Justice League of America.

Few DC heroes carry the weight of mythology quite like Hawkman, who first spread his wings in The Brave and the Bold #34 in 1961, brought to life by the legendary team of Gardner Fox and Joe Kubert in one of the Silver Age's most visually striking debuts. Over 64 years of publishing history β€” spanning Justice League of America, his own solo title, and World's Finest Comics β€” he has proven himself one of DC's most enduring figures, with 19 collector-recognized key issues that speak to a legacy few characters can match. He keeps remarkable company, sharing pages with titans like Batman, Superman, and the man behind the mask Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, cementing his place at the very heart of the DC universe. With 343 catalogued appearances and a wingspan stretching across every major era of comics, Hawkman is an essential piece of the DC tapestry β€” bold, ancient-feeling, and absolutely worth your time.
