About the series

From 1956 to 1978, DC’s Showcase served as a high-stakes tryout series, introducing new concepts and characters in short arcs before testing reader interest for potential ongoing titles. Anchored by the prolific writing of Robert Kanigher, Gardner Fox, and Jack Miller, with art from Mike Sekowsky, Joe Kubert, and Lee Elias, the anthology spotlighted early adventures of Aquaman and Aqualad, alongside Superman, Batman, and their civilian identities.
