Takeshi Miyazawa
b. 1978
Takeshi Miyazawa (born April 19, 1978) is a Canadian comic book artist best known for blending a clean, manga-influenced linework with Western superhero storytelling. Raised in Canada, he studied art at Queen’s University in Ontario before breaking into comics in the early 2000s. His big break came when he co-created the character Amadeus Cho with writer Greg Pak, introducing the teen genius to Marvel readers in 2006. Miyazawa’s style—expressive, fluid, and emotionally direct—made him a natural fit for teen-focused and all-ages titles. He became a defining artist on *Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane* and later collaborated with Pak on *Mech Cadet Yu* and its sequel *Mech Cadets*. His work on *Ms. Marvel* alongside G. Willow Wilson helped cement the book’s visual identity. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Miyazawa has also drawn *Batgirl* and various Mary Jane–centric stories. He remains active in the industry, contributing to both Marvel and independent projects. While he has not received major industry awards, his influence is felt in the way manga aesthetics have been integrated into mainstream North American comics, particularly through his character-driven, youthful storytelling.
