History

The series housing this issue — Batgirl Volume 6 — was announced in August 2024 as part of DC's 'All In' publishing initiative, which followed the Absolute Power event and was designed as a line-wide accessible relaunch. Writer Tate Brombal, previously known for Green Lantern Dark and House of Slaughter at BOOM! Studios, pitched the book explicitly as a celebration of Cassandra Cain's 25th anniversary, while artist Takeshi Miyazawa — veteran of Ms. Marvel and Mech Cadet Yu at Marvel — joined as his first DC project. Issue #9 specifically marks the return of Miyazawa to interior art duties after a multi-issue flashback sequence (issues #7–8) that employed a different visual approach, and it opens the second major story arc of the run, 'The Three Swords, Part 1,' with editors Jessica Berbey and Rob Levin and colorist Mike Spicer rounding out the core creative team that has helmed the book since issue #1.
