Roger Langridge was born on 14 February 1967 in New Zealand and has spent much of his adult life based in Britain, building a career as a writer, artist, letterer, and colorist across more than two decades of prolific comics work.
Langridge came up through alternative and humor comics, developing a loose, expressive cartooning style that draws equally on classic newspaper strips and the broader tradition of absurdist comedy. That sensibility proved a natural fit for licensed properties built around performance and slapstick: his run on *The Muppet Show: The Comic Book* earned particular admiration for capturing the anarchic spirit of the television source material, and his work on *Popeye* demonstrated similar affection for characters rooted in an earlier era of popular cartooning. *Thor the Mighty Avenger*, produced for Marvel, found him applying the same warmth and wit to superhero material, winning over readers who might not have expected the tone to work.
His creator-owned series *Snarked*, a comic rooted in Lewis Carroll's nonsense verse, gave fuller expression to his fondness for wordplay and visual invention. He also contributed extensively to *Doctor Who Magazine* and the humor title *Gross Point*, among many other projects spanning his active years from 1990 onward.
Across all of it, Langridge has remained one of comics' more quietly distinctive voices — a cartoonist whose humor is grounded in genuine craft rather than easy irreverence.
