Thor the Mighty Avenger #6

Chris Samnee's cover for issue #6 of Thor the Mighty Avenger sets an immediately striking scene: Thor, red cape billowing and Mjolnir in hand, faces down an enormous green dragon-like creature across a dazzling rainbow bridge, with a cosmic, crater-pocked darkness looming behind them both. The scale contrast alone — the Thunder God dwarfed by his towering, horned opponent — gives the image a wonderfully mythic weight. Roger Langridge and Samnee's series had already earned praise as "a rare gem of a comic not to be missed," and this 2011 issue looks like a fine reason why.
