Popeye #1
IDW launched this 2012 revival of everyone's favorite sailor with real charm and energy, kicking things off with "The Land of Jeeps." The cover by Bruce Ozella captures Popeye at his most gloriously absurd — hoisting an entire green vintage automobile over his head while Olive Oyl recoils in surprise nearby, a small child in red sits on the ground in the chaos, and a wide-eyed Wimpy cowers in the foreground as a wheel goes flying. It's a delightful scene that promises the kind of good-natured, slapstick fun that makes Popeye a timeless joy, with writer Roger Langridge and artist Ozella clearly bringing plenty of affection to the material.
