Abigail and the Snowman #3

The penultimate chapter of Roger Langridge and Fred Stresing's four-issue KaBOOM! series stages a wonderfully tense standoff on its cover: a looming figure in a dark trench coat and wide-brimmed hat — seen from behind — faces down a worried crowd that includes little Abigail, a pair of suited heavies in sunglasses, a nervous bespectacled man, and a bandaged, mummy-like figure. The bright pink background and Langridge's expressive cartooning give the whole scene a playful sense of danger that perfectly captures the series' mix of childhood adventure and gentle menace.
