Laura DePuy
Laura DePuy, who later worked under the name Laura Martin, was born in 1975. She entered the comics industry as a colorist in the mid-1990s, a time when digital coloring was becoming more prominent. Over the next two decades, she became one of the most sought-after colorists in the field, contributing to major publishers including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and CrossGen.
Her work is best known for its subtlety and depth, often enhancing the mood of a story without overwhelming the line art. She is especially recognized for her collaborations with writer Warren Ellis and artist Bryan Hitch on *The Authority* and *StormWatch*, as well as with writer Alan Moore on *Promethea* and *Tom Strong*. Her coloring on *JLA* and *Planetary* helped define the visual tone of those series. At CrossGen, she worked on *Ruse* and *The Path*, and she also colored the epic *Universe X* series for Marvel.
DePuy married fellow colorist Randy Martin in 2001 and began using the name Laura Martin professionally. She continued working steadily until 2017, with her credits spanning 144 issues. Her influence on modern comic coloring is widely acknowledged, and she received multiple Eisner Award nominations for her work.
