“Enemies of the State”

The cover of this November 1997 Image series issue delivers exactly the kind of visceral, large-scale clash you'd expect from Divine Right: The Adventures of Max Faraday — a massively built, armored warrior with flaming gauntlets grapples savagely with a reptilian, scale-covered creature, while a second armored figure looms in the background amid swirling green energy and shattered rock. Jim Lee's pencils and Scott Williams' inks are in full command here, every muscle and claw rendered with that signature late-'90s dynamism. Titled "Enemies of the State," issue #3 promises that whatever Faraday has gotten himself into, the opposition is anything but subtle.
