Bob Webb
Bob Webb (born 1927, died 2017) was a British comic artist best known for his decades-long run on jungle adventure titles, particularly *Sheena, Queen of the Jungle* and *Jumbo Comics*. Born in England, Webb entered the industry in the early 1940s, working as an artist and inker on a range of pulp-style adventure comics. His clean, dynamic linework and ability to render lush jungle settings made him a natural fit for the genre. He is most closely associated with writer/artist Matt Baker, with whom he collaborated on several *Sheena* stories, and also worked extensively with the team behind *Fight Comics* and *Jungle Comics*. Webb’s signature style—fluid, expressive figures set against detailed tropical backdrops—helped define the look of mid-century jungle comics. Later in his career, he contributed to European reprint series like *Stjerneklassiker* and *Illustrerte Klassikere* (Classics Illustrated), adapting literary classics into comic form. Though he never achieved the fame of some contemporaries, Webb’s prolific output over more than 75 years—spanning 139 credited issues—earned him respect among fans of vintage adventure comics. He received no major awards during his lifetime, but his work remains a touchstone for collectors of the genre.
