Who is J'Onn J'Onzz?

A green-skinned telepathic alien from Mars, J'Onn J'Onzz was accidentally transported to Earth in 1955 by scientist Dr. Erdel's experimental robot-brain device. Stranded on an unfamiliar world, he adopted a human identity and used his extraordinary Martian abilities to serve as a detective and hero.

Few characters in DC's vast history can claim roots as deep and a presence as enduring as J'Onn J'Onzz, who made his remarkable debut in Detective Comics #226 back in 1955 β€” a Golden Age origin that places him among the most venerable figures in superhero comics. Over more than seven decades of publication, he has accumulated 568 catalog appearances and 25 key issues that collectors prize, a testament to just how central he's become to the DC universe. His most prominent home has been the pages of Justice League of America and JLA, where he shares adventures with titans like Batman, Superman, and The Flash β€” as elite a circle as comics has to offer. Created by Edmond Hamilton and Dick Sprang, J'Onn J'Onzz is one of those rare Golden Age discoveries who never faded into nostalgia but instead grew into an indispensable cornerstone of DC storytelling β€” absolutely worth every longbox dig it takes to find him.
