About the series
In the late 1980s, DC Comics reimagined its premier super-team with a lighter, character-driven touch, producing Justice League International (1987–1989). Over its 19-issue run, writers J. M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen, alongside artists Kevin Maguire and Ty Templeton, focused on the human—and often hilarious—interactions among a roster that included Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and Martian Manhunter. This series is remembered for injecting warmth and humor into the Justice League, proving that a superhero team could be both powerful and genuinely funny.
