“Chapter One: Dusk”

The DC Universe faces its darkest hour in The Final Night #1, subtitled "Week One: Armageddon," written by Karl Kesel with art by Stuart Immonen and inks by José Marzán Jr. The cover — penciled by Immonen and inked by Marzán Jr. — presents a sobering assembly of DC's greatest heroes: Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter standing together beneath massive, icicle-draped ruins as snow falls around them, their expressions grave and resolute. It's a striking 1996 opening chapter that immediately signals a threat serious enough to unite the entire hero community against what the tagline grimly calls "Armageddon.
