Who is Hope Summers?

Born the first mutant after M-Day's near-extinction of mutantkind, Hope was rescued and raised through time by Cable, who protected her from those who feared or sought to exploit her prophesied role as mutantkind's salvation. As an Omega-level mutant, she can mimic and amplify the powers of any nearby mutant.

Few Modern Age Marvel characters have arrived with as much weight and expectation as Hope Summers, who burst onto the scene in Cable #1 in 2008, courtesy of creator Ariel Olivetti. Over nearly two decades of publishing history β€” stretching all the way to 2025 β€” she has proven herself a genuinely enduring figure in the Marvel Universe, racking up 164 catalog appearances and five collector-significant key issues that speak to just how pivotal her presence has been. Her world is populated by some of the most iconic names in X-Men history: Wolverine, Cyclops, Scott Summers, Storm, and Ororo Munroe all share her pages, placing her squarely at the beating heart of mutantkind's most consequential stories. From Cable to Uncanny X-Men to Immortal X-Men, Hope Summers is the kind of character whose arc rewards the dedicated reader β€” essential reading for anyone serious about the modern X-Men era.

Trivia

  • Marvel engineered Hope's origin as a sprawling multi-title mystery rather than a clean single-issue debut, parceling out her identity and name across the Messiah Complex event and then into the pages of Cable.en.wikipedia.org
  • Hope earned a cornerstone role in the Krakoa era as one of The Five, the elite resurrection team Marvel built into the island nation's very infrastructure for bringing deceased mutants back to life.en.wikipedia.org
