Uncanny X-Men #20

Framed by a roiling wall of fire, this 2012 installment of Uncanny X-Men presents the team in striking fashion — Cyclops and Emma Frost stand at the forefront, flanked by Magneto, Storm, and a gathering of their fellow mutants including Colossus, with the inferno surrounding them suggesting the stakes have never felt higher. Carlos Pacheco's cover pencils and Roger Bonet's inks give the ensemble a bold, cinematic weight, rendered with vivid detail by colorist Guru eFX. Kieron Gillen's run on the series was delivering some of mutantkind's most compelling moments in 2012, and this visually charged issue looks like a worthy chapter in that story.
