About the series
In the wake of the "Second Coming," Kieron Gillen and James Asmus took the reins of Marvel's mutant future with Generation Hope (2011–2012), a 17-issue series spotlighting Hope Summers and her team of newly-emerging "Five Lights"—mutants whose powers sparked in the aftermath of the Phoenix-Force-fueled event. With art by Salvador Espin, Takeshi Miyazawa, and Ibraim Roberson, the book followed Gabriel Cohuelo, Kenji Uedo, Laurie Tromette, and others as they navigated their volatile abilities and the weight of being the next generation of mutantkind. More than a simple X-Men spin-off, it explored the messy, dangerous transition of raw potential into heroism, setting the stage for the turmoil that would define the X-line in the years to come.
