Sam Kieth was an American comics artist and writer born on January 11, 1963, who passed away on March 15, 2026. He is perhaps most recognized as the creator of *The Maxx*, a surrealist series that blended psychological depth with visually inventive storytelling, and as a co-creator of Neil Gaiman's foundational *The Sandman*. He also originated *Zero Girl*, further demonstrating his interest in strange, emotionally grounded narratives.
