Marvel Comics Presents #121

The cover of this 1993 anthology issue says it all — a massive, writhing Venom has Wolverine in a crushing grip, claws splayed and yellow costume visible as the two powerhouses clash against a purple-toned backdrop, with a small inset image of a sword-wielding warrior hinting at additional stories within. Cover art by Sam Kieth and Joe Madureira (with inks by Kieth and Hector Collazo) gives the confrontation a raw, kinetic energy that's hard to look away from. Rounding out the package is a Mirage backup story, making this a satisfyingly packed installment in Marvel's long-running anthology series.
