The Maxx #19
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThere's something wonderfully strange about this September 1995 Image cover — Sam Kieth renders a hulking, lumpy creature with a single banana-like protrusion curling from its back, looming massively over a tiny, almost comically small figure standing defiantly at its feet. The size contrast between the two figures gives the image a quietly surreal, fairy-tale tension that fits perfectly with the issue's story title, "Last... Fairy Tale." The Maxx has always delighted in blending the absurd with the surprisingly poignant, and this issue looks to be no exception.
